Studying how youth develop in a diverse society

I am an Assistant Professor in Youth & Family at the Department of Psychology, Education and Child Studies at Erasmus University Rotterdam.

My research spans the fields of developmental and social psychology, as well as family and educational studies.

I am particularly interested in the processes that shape the development of children’s and youths’ ethnic-racial identity and intergroup attitudes. For that reason, I investigate what they learn about ethnicity and race-related topics within their families and at school. My other line of research examines how adults’ respond to diversity-related social change.

In addition, I am a co-initiator and co-host of the podcast Joy in Academia with other emerging racialized scholars based in the Netherlands and Belgium.

For more information on my scholarly work, see my publications or dissertation. Click here to read the Dutch summary of my dissertation.
